HYDERABAD, Oct 6: Most of the district and taluka nazim posts and councillor seats reserved for women, peasants, workers and minorities were won by candidates of the government-backed Khushhal Pakistan panel in the 21 districts of interior Sindh in the final phase of local polls on Thursday.

Elections for district nazim were not held in Matiari, Tharparkar and Naushahro Feroze where Mohammad Ali Shah Jamote, Arbab Anwar and Aqib Jatoi have been elected unopposed.

HYDERABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-backed MPA Kanwar Naveed Jameel registered a comprehensive victory in the Hyderabad district beating his closest rival, the PPP-backed Mir Fateh Talpur.

The government-backed candidate, Mohammad Thebo, was defeated in Hyderabad (rural) taluka despite getting eleventh hour support from the HPP.

ADP’s Khawind Bux Jahejo won the seat.

Javed Jabbar of the HPG was elected taluka nazim city and Sabir Qaimkhani won the post of Latifabad taluka nazim.

In Qasimabad taluka, government-backed Noor Mohammad Shoro retained his taluka nazim seat defeating ADP’s Moula Bux Chandio.

TANDO ALLAHYAR: The Azad Magsi Ittehad registered a clean sweep in the Tando Allahyar taluka by winning the seats of district and three taluka nazims and the reserved seats in district and taluka councils.

For the district nazim slot, AMI’s Dr Rahila Magsi defeated ADP’s Abdul Sattar Bachani.

TANDO MOHAMMAD KHAN: Mir Inayat Ali Talpur defeated Awam Dost candidate Syed Mohsin Shah Bukhari for the district nazim slot.

Zulfiqar Memon reports from Nawabshah: There was a tie for the district nazim post as both candidates, Faryal Talpur (ADP) and Khan Mohammad Dahri (NAI), have received equal number of votes, 328, according to unofficial results.

Qurban Ali Khushik reports from Dadu: Government-backed Dadu Ittehad Panel (DIP) won the district nazim slot and all the four taluka nazim seats.

DIP candidate for district nazim, Karim Ali Jatoi, bagged 482 votes while his opponent ADP candidate, Saeed Ahmed Jamali secured 140 votes.

DIP candidate Naban Lund won the seat for taluka nazim Dadu.

DIP candidate Unid Ali Jatoi won the seat of taluka nazim Mehar.

DIP candidate Dr Bandah Ali Leghari won the seat of taluka nazim Johi.

DIP candidate for taluka Khairpur Nathan Shah, Dhani Bux Jatoi, won the seat defeating ADP’s Imran Leghari.

Jamshoro: ADP candidate Malik Asad Sikandar won the seat of district nazim Jamshoro.

ADP candidate Sikandar Rahupoto was elected taluka nazim Sehwan and Abdul Rehman Badshah also of ADP won the taluka nazim Kotri post.

ADP candidate Malik Qamar won taluka nazim Thano Bula Khan seat.

Only one taluka nazim seat, of Manjhand, was won by the KPP in district Jamshoro.

Niaz Mohammad Khan reports from Sanghar: Haji Khuda Bux Rajar of the Faqir Dost Panel was elected district nazim.

The winner in Shahdadpur taluka is Hussain Bux Khaskheli (FDP), in Khipro Haji Khuda Bux Dars (FDP), in Sinjhoro Dr Hashim Khaskheli (FDP) and in Tando Adam, Ghulam Murtaza Junejo.

Mansoor Mirani reports from Khairpur: Niaz Shah of the KDP won the district nazim slot defeating ADP’s Nafisa Shah. In Khairpur taluka, KDP’s Tahir Imtiaz won the nazim’s seat, in Kotdiji taluka, the nazim’s seat was won by Munawar Wassan of the ADP, in Gambat by Sarkar Hussain Shah of the KDP.

In Kingri by Zaheer Ghumro of the KDP, in Faiz Ganj taluka by Akhtar Hussain Rajpar of the KDP, in Thari Mirwah taluka, by Ataullah Phul of KDP, in Nara taluka, by Bakhshal Aradeen of the KDP, and in Sobhodero, Moharram Shah Lakyari of the KDP.

Prem Shivani reports from Mithi: The Khushhal Pakistan Panel’s candidates won the Mithi and Nagarparkar talukas nazim slots.

Allah Dino Bajeer of the KPP won the seat of taluka nazim Mithi.

Abdul Ahad Samoo of the KPP was elected taluka nazim Nagarparkar.

KPP’s Arbab Anwar was elected unopposed as nazim district Tharparkar.

Iqbal Khwaja reports from Thatta: The Khushhal Pakistan Panel of the ruling PML captured the district nazim slot and seven seats of taluka nazims, defeating Awam Dost Panel candidates.

Syed Shafqat Shah Shirazi won the slot of district nazim for second consecutive term.

Polling was not held in four constituencies, taluka Mirpur Bathoro, Jati, Shah Bundar and Sujawal, where Arbab Ramizuddin, Nawaz Ali Malkani, Shoukat Ali Malkani, Akram Shah Shirazi had been elected unopposed.

In the remaining three talukas, Ada Mohammad Memon won in Thatta, Abdul Ghani Baghiar in Mirpur Sakro and Nazir Kehar in Ghorabari.

MPA Sassui Palijo citing various incidents of grave irregularities in Mirpur Sakro taluka alleged that the taluka nazim candidate of ADP Usman Kumbhar was defeated through rigging.

Hashim Bhurgari reports from Badin: Anwar Halepoto of the KPP defeated Bashir Ahmed Sirewal of the ADP.

In Tando Bago and Matli talukas, Pir Hamid Ali Shah and Mansoor Nizamani of the KPP have been elected unopposed.

In Talhar, Mir Allah Bux Talpur of the KPP was unofficially declared elected.

In Shaheed Fazil Raho taluka, Aslam Raho of the KPP was declared elected.

Abdul Aziz reports from Naushahro Feroze: The government- backed Jatoi group has won four taluka nazim seats while KPP candidate for taluka nazim Mehrabpur had been elected unopposed.

KPP candidate for Moro, Jam Noor Mohammad defeated ADP candidate Zulfiqar Behan. In Naushahro Feroze taluka, KPP candidate for taluka nazim Munir Mubejo won the seat.

No election was held for the seat of district nazim as Aqib Khan Jatoi was elected unopposed.

Ghanshamdas reports from Jacobabad: Government-backed candidates Begum Saeeda Soomro and Saleem Jan Mazari were elected district nazims of Jacobabad and Kashmore districts respectively, according to unofficial results.

Begum Soomro obtained 261 votes for the district nazim while her rival Abdul Rahim Khoso (Khoso panel) secured 207 votes.

Sajjad Jakhrani (ADP) bagged 156 votes and was elected taluka nazim Jacobabad, while his rival Abdul Razzak (Khoso panel) got 25 votes. In Thul, Ali Akbar Banglani (KPP) obtained 154 votes and was elected taluka nazim.

KASHMORE: In Kashmore, Sardar Saleem Jan Mazari (KPP) was elected the district nazim.

In Kandhkot, Mir Rashid Ali Bijarani (KPP) obtained 82 votes and was elected taluka nazim.

In Tangwani taluka, Ashraf Ali Bijarani (ADP) was elected nazim and in taluka Kashmore, Haji Abdul Rauf Khoso (KPP) was declared successful.

Rahmatullah Soomro reports from Shikarpur: Arif Mahar of the government-backed KPP emerged victorious for the district nazim slot by getting 371 votes. His rival Abid Jatoi (Jatoi Panel) obtained 246 votes.

Najaf Ali Kamario (KPP) won the seat of taluka nazim Garhi Yasin and in Lakhi Ghulam Shah taluka, Imran Mahar (KPP) won the nazim’s post

In Khanpur, Mehdi Hassan Jatoi (Jatoi panel) won the seat of taluka nazim and Zafar Ali Shaikh (KPP) won in Shikarpur taluka.
