HYDERABAD, Oct 4: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has formed a five-member committee to prepare a feasibility report for setting up a “Panah House” to provide protection and shelter to destitute women in the district.
The DCO was presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday which discussed problems of Darul Aman.
DO social welfare Appa Shams-un-Nisa Shaikh will head the committee.
Noosheen Usman, Appa Saeeda Rizvi, Rana Siddiqui and Nooreen Rajput were nominated as members of the committee.
The DCO urged members of the committee to visit “Panah Gah” in Karachi and other charity institutions to familiarize themselves about mechanism and procedure of similar institutions working successfully before preparing the report.
He said in Hyderabad there were many philanthropists who have offered their cooperation for establishing such a charity institute for rehabilitation of destitute women.
Discussing matters of Hyderabad Darul Aman, the DCO formed a legal aid committee headed by EDO (law) Shams Sehto. He decided that all legal cases of the Darul Aman inmates would be processed at government expenses.
He said the district government could not keep destitute women for long time in Darul Aman to avoid psychological disorder of inmates.
He directed the EDO to proceed with legal matters of all inmates in the courts concerned on the government expenses and get the matters decided within stipulated period.
Mr Syed said though the internal environment of Darul Aman had improved as compared to past but it still needed to be improved by providing better lodging, boarding and entertainment facilities to the inmates.
The DCO said for reconstituting the Darul Aman committee, it should be replaced by people having spirit of welfare work to solve social problems of inmates.
He ordered for providing a separate vehicle for transport facilities to inmates to attend their court hearings.
BACHAT BAZAARS: Bachat Bazaars will be held in every taluka of the Jamshoro district during Ramazan to provide better quality and edible items to general public at reasonable rates.
This was stated by Jamshoro DCO Qabool Ahmed Shaikh while speaking to officers of the market committee and administrative officers on Tuesday.
He directed EDOs, DDOs and TMOs to appoint committees in every taluka to ensure that all edible items were sold by shopkeepers strictly in accordance with prices fixed by the competent authority.
He said complaint cells would be set up at the taluka level to take action against shopkeepers and vendors for hoarding and black-marketing of any item on the complaint of consumers.
The DCO directed that all the shopkeepers and food vendors would display price lists at conspicuous places.
He warned that anyone found overcharging would be fined. He said that officers would be given magisterial powers during Ramazan.
