Arrest of 7 police officials ordered

SUKKUR, Oct 4: The special judge of anti-corruption here on Tuesday issued orders to arrest seven police officials, including an SHO, three ASIs and three constables, and produce them in the court on Nov 1.

The judge issued these orders on a petition filed by Inayatullah Jatoi who stated that the police officials had arrested 12 people from different places of Sukkur some nine months back.

He said they were kept in illegal detention without registering an FIR against them and released after taking illegal gratification.

The complaint was thoroughly investigated and later the challan was submitted in the court of special judge anti-corruption who after hearing the case ordered to arrest SHO Ghulam Hussain Dahri, ASIs Pyar Ali, Imam Dino Marfani, Sahib Dino Narejo and constables Hubdar Jatoi and Shafiq Khoso.

Lawyers protest: More than 50 members of the Ghotki District Bar Association took out a procession on bicycles on Tuesday in protest against increase in prices of petroleum and other commodities.

The procession was led by the association’s president Ali Raza Kalhoro and general secretary Abdul Fatah Samejo. It started from the bar association’s office and ended at the press club, where its participants held a protest demonstration.

Speakers at the demonstration said the prices of petroleum and other essential products had increased by over 40 per cent during the past five years because of the wrong economic policies of the government. They said the price hike, especially of petroleum, had made the lives of the common people miserable.
