LAHORE, Oct 3: The City District Government on Monday organized a rally for creating awareness against dangerous kite flying and its squads imposed on-the-spot fines totalling Rs250,000 and lodged FIRs against 60 people found flying kites with metal wire.
The rally started from the Nasser Bagh and concluded after reaching the Jinnah Hall via Kutchery Road and Nila Gumbad. Boy scouts and civil defence volunteers participated in the rally. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the use of metal wire for kite flying.
Addressing the participants at the Jinnah Hall, caretaker DCO Khalid Sultan said 13 squads had been constituted for action against people flying kites with metal wire.
Meanwhile, the DO (environment) and CDG squads imposed fines totalling Rs39,000 on drivers of 80 smoky public service vehicles — 77 rickshaws, 36 wagons and 12 buses — in Ravi Town and Data Ganj Bakhsh Town.
