PESHAWAR, Oct 3: An additional district and sessions judge, Fakhruz Zaman, on Monday sentenced to life imprisonment a person found guilty of killing his wife and father-in-law.

The court pronounced that the prosecution had proved its case against the accused, Sharafat Khan, and the evidence on record proved his involvement in the offence.

The court sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs100,000 on account of killing his wife, Ms Samina, and father-in- law, Faqir Hussain. He was also convicted for injuring his brother-in-law, Humayun Khan, and was sentenced to three years imprisonment. Six brothers of the convict were declared proclaimed offenders as they have been absconding from law and their perpetual arrest warrants were issued.

The complainant in the case was Humayun Khan. The FIR was registered at police station Pishtakhara on April 17, 2001, under section 302 and 324 of Pakistan Penal Code.

The complainant stated that his sister, Ms Samina, was annoyed with her husband due to his bad character and other domestic issues. He added that she left her husband’s house and started living at her father’s residence.

On the day of occurrence, the complainant stated, the accused and his six brothers attacked their residence and killed his father and sister whereas he received injuries in the attack.

Advocate Asadullah Chamkani appeared for the complainant and argued that the eye witness account given by the complainant was in line with the evidence of other witnesses. He added that the motive for the murder was also clear.
