Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid has said that the Covid-19 transmission rate has reduced to one per cent from seven per cent.

The chief minister attributed the reduction to a decline in political gatherings after the GB elections and the role of the Ulema in helping to spread awareness.

Deputy commissioners have also been alerted to coordinate with the Ulema in spreading awareness about Covid-19 standard operating procedures and preventive measures during Friday prayers, he said.

The chief minister added that 219 beds have been made available for Covid-19 patients and currently only a total of 10 patients are under treatment.
