Interior Minister Ijaz Shah and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan said Pakistan will observe a standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance week from December 5-12.
Both Shah and Sultan were addressing a presser a day after 75 deaths, most in over four months, were reported from Covid-19.
Dr Sultan said: “There is no doubt it is a sheer pressure on our healthcare system, not only this pressure but precious lives are being lost” while addressing the rising deaths due to the second wave.
He urged the nation that strict compliance of SOPs was needed “to break the back of this pandemic”.
He said the government will be coordinating with all provincial administrations and federal units to make the SOPs week a success.
“If we have to sacrifice and make an effort then let’s do this so we can be successful in stopping this loss of precious lives,” he said.
