Noted columnist Abdul Qadir Hasan passes away

LAHORE: Known columnist Abdul Qadir Hasan passed away here on Monday. He was 89.

Mr Hasan belonged to a village in the Salt Range. He moved to Lahore in his early years and received education from the Jamia Ashrafia.

He learnt from Maulana Maududi and Allama Daud Ghaznavi, while in the field of journalism, Hameed Nizami and Syed Sibt-i-Hasan were his mentors.

With a flair for writing from an early age, Mr Hasan remained associated with dailies Nawai Waqt, Jang, Express and Lailo Nihar as a columnist. He also served as the editor of daily Imroze.

His funeral prayers will be held at Allah-o-Akbar Masjid, Defence Phase-I opposite a petrol station at 9am on Tuesday (today).
