PESHAWAR: Groups clash at university

Published January 21, 2002

PESHAWAR, Jan 20: Heavily-deployed police force at the University Campus failed terribly on Saturday when a group of ex-students opened indiscriminate firing on innocent students in Hostel No. 7 of Agriculture University.

According to details, a minor issue between the students of Pakhtoon Students Federation Agriculture University and President of the Anti-Narcotics Society of the University, Arbab Gohar, had developed into a conflict a few weeks ago.

On Saturday, Arbab Gohar and some others opened fire on the Pakhtoon Students Federation and other innocent students of the Hostel No. 7. Fortunately, no casualty was reported.

Surprisingly, Hostel No. 7 is not far from the police station, and policemen can be seen in front of the hostel at all times, but they could not stop the shooting incident.

When contracted the VC was not available for comments.—PPI
