Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary celebrated

KARACHI: The 551st birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak was celebrated at Sindh Governor House on Saturday.

Governor Imran Ismail attended the ceremony and cut a cake on this occasion.

He said: “The Sikh community has always been dear to us. Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to provide rights to minorities of the country.”

He said that there was no “second class” citizen in Pakistan as Hindus, Christians and Sikhs enjoyed their rights.

In contrast, barbarism had been unleashed in India where Muslims had been subjected to injustices and cruelty, he said.

He appreciated the role of the Sikh community for raising their voice against this injustice. He said that Guru Nanak’s teachings were for humanity and all religions of the world teach the lesson of humanity.

The governor pointed out that the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) had focused on fulfilling Huqooqul Ibad (rights of human beings).

“We have to ensure protection of life and property of every human being,” declared Mr Ismail.
