CDA to take possession of E-12 to start development, says PM’s aide

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Capital Development Authority Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan said the civic agency has completed arrangements to accommodate landowners of E-12 and take possession of the sector for its development.

He said the chronic issue of taking possession of E-12 will be resolved soon.E-12 was launched in 1989 but the CDA has still failed to develop the sector.

The incumbent CDA management started construction of service roads and development work in two sub-sectors - E-12/2 and E-12/3 - but possession of land in the remaining two sub-sectors is yet to be taken.

Mr Awan told Dawn that plots in I-12 were being resized to accommodate a maximum number of locals from E-12.

“We will soon allot plots to the villagers of E-12 in I-12 to get possession of the land in E-12 and then development activities in the stalled sectort,” he added.

Mr Awan, who is MNA from Islamabad, added that when the sector was launched in 1989 the CDA sold out over 4,000 plots to government officials and the general public.

But the CDA launched the development work in the two sub-sectors recently.

On the other hand, sources said, a large number of people who purchased plots from the CDA in 1989 and were supposed to get developed plots in a year have already died.

However, Mr Awan said there would be no further delay.

“We have already started development work in two sub-sectors while efforts are ongoing to get possession of the remaining two sub-sectors.”

He said all locals whose land and built-up claims were undecided would be given plots in I-12.

“We have completed our homework and soon there will be a major breakthrough,” he said.
