LAHORE, Oct 1: The Parks and Horticulture Authority on Saturday formally handed over the possession of the newly-restored Tollinton Market to the Lahore Museum.
PHA engineering director Izhar Ahmad Khan handed over the possession of the market along with a detail of assets after the signing of a memorandum.
The market has been restored by the PHA in accordance with its original 1864 design under the supervision of the Tajdeed-i-Lahore Committee at a cost of Rs30 million. City Museum is to be set up in the hall at the right side of the entrance and Art and Craft Bazaar on the left.
Restoration of the market in accordance with the original architecture ensures proper visibility through sunlight in case of a power breakdown.
