SIALKOT, Oct 1: The dealers and stockists of urea fertilizers are accused of selling the commodity at Rs545 per bag instead of the official price of Rs423 in the Sialkot and Narowal districts.

Chairman Farmers Rights Protection Forum Punjab Mirza Ehsan Baig and President Anjuman Kashtakaran Sialkot District Syed Iqbal Shah talking to newsmen here on Saturday said that the local district governments had failed to stop these dealers and stockists from selling the commodity at higher rates.

They expressed their dismay over the sharp hike in urea prices and urged the government to take serious notice of this critical situation.

They said that the government should take measures to curb the menace of the exploitation of the poor farmers at the hands of dealers, middlemen and stockists.

They urged the government to cut the urea prices by 25pc and fixed them for three years for the development of the agriculture sector uplift.
