FC man martyred in Charsadda attack

CHARSADDA: A Frontier Constabulary trooper was martyred when a man opened indiscriminate fire on security personnel guarding the government offices at the Rajar Bypass Road here on Wednesday.

The attacker was also shot dead by the security personnel.

The security forces cordoned off the area soon after the incident and started a search operation. Security was beefed up in the area while entry and exit points were sealed.

According to sources, a man riding a motorcycle reached the main gate of the Circuit House adjacent to DC office on Rajar Bypass Road and opened indiscriminate fire on the security personnel. As a result, FC soldier Muslim Khan of Charbagh, Swat, got serious wounds and was shifted to the DHQ hospital, Charsadda, where he succumbed to injuries.

An FIR of the incident was registered at the CTD office Mardan.

The attacker was identified as Rehman Syed of Shago Kallay Prang Ghar, Tangi.

According to relatives, the victim had recently retired from Frontier Corps on medical grounds. During service, he was also kidnapped by unknown persons.
