RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Wednesday arrested former PML-N member of provincial assembly, and raids were under way to arrest ten others, including Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) official in a land corruption case.

Former adviser to Chief Minister Punjab, and former MPA, Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal was arrested by ACE while he was on way home to Chaklala on Tuesday night. He was arrested in connection with the Palm City Housing Society case.

Mr Afzal who had been suffering from heart disease was shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology RIC later on. The former PML-N MPA’s father, his uncle and other RDA officials were identified in the FIR registered with the ACE.

The FIR registered on the complaint of Zulfiqar Mohammad, said that the housing society in Mouza Kot Jabi Chaklala Rawalpindi had been in operation without due approval from the authority concerned.

‘Public at large is being looted through sale/purchase advertisements in the society as the society has not been approved, causing huge loss to national exchequer,” the FIR said.
