LAHORE, Sept 30: The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the Kamalia Saddar police station SHO to produce next week the record of a police harassment case.

The court issued the order on the writ petition of Ghulam Mohammad who contended that he and his wife Irshad were subjected to torture by the police at the instance of her parents for contracting a love marriage.

The police also arrested his brother and tortured him, he added.

The petitioner, who sought the quashment of an FIR registered against him on charges of abducting Irshad, submitted that his wife miscarried due to torture.

He submitted that soon after his marriage in May, the police started harassing him. He moved the LHC seeking protection from police. The court not only restrained police from proceeding against them but also raised the dower money from Rs100 to Rs25,000 considering that the dower was too insufficient to protect a wife.
