BALOCHISTAN is the largest province, but still lags far behind other regions in terms of education, having a literacy rate of less than 40 per cent. Some higher education institutions in the province used to offer two-year evening degree programme which was an excellent opportunity for students who were working during the day.
The programme, the administrative authorities say, was shut down on the directives issued by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), which is seriously disappointing for the local youth.
