HYDERABAD, Sept 29: The government of Sindh has reconstituted the provincial registration committee for registration of firms dealing in goods relating to plant protection in the province.
According to a notification issued by the Sindh agriculture department on Thursday, the four-member committee would be headed by the project director planning monitoring unit of the agriculture sector programme.
The additional secretary technical, director plant protection and agriculture chemist will be its members.
The terms of reference include scrutiny of cases of pesticides firms recommended by the sub-committee for physical verification of infrastructure of pesticides firms to do plant protection business, checking of working of already registered pesticides firms, de-registering of inactive firms and implementation of the Agricultural Pesticides Ordinance 1971 and its rules 1973.
JSSF: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation on Thursday staged a demonstration outside the press club in protest against the indifference of officials of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad.
JSQM leader Saghar Hanif Burdi and JSSF president Faqir Sudheer Tunio said the BISE had failed to resolve problems of the students.
They said the students who come from the interior of Sindh to get their mark sheets had to return disappointed due to red-tapism.
During the demonstration, some board officials held negotiations with JSQM and JSSF leaders and assured them that all genuine problems would be resolved.
The protest was called off but JSQM and JSSF leaders made it clear to the officials that if the problems were not solved they would again stage a series of protest demonstrations within the premises of the board.
PICIC branch: Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui inaugurated a PICIC branch in Qasimabad on Thursday.
He appreciated the corporation for shifting its focus on underdeveloped areas of Sindh.
PICIC managing director Mohammad Ali Khoja said the organization plans to cater financial and economic needs of small and medium-scale clients and help them in their quest to move forward.
Mr Khoja said the Qasimabad branch was a part of PICIC’s “Vision 2008” which envisaged quality financial services in all corners of the country.
