TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 29: PPP district secretary-general Saeed Akhtar has held former minister and party’s federal council secretary-general Khalid Kharal responsible for harming the party organization in the district.
He said at a press conference here that Mr Kharal continued to support former district nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq despite the fact that he had quit the party.
He said Mr Kharal not only hosted functions for party deserter federal minister Faisal Saleh Hayat but also participated in oath taking ceremony in the President’s House when he (Faisal) was made a minister.
Mr Akhtar also criticized district PPP president Haji Ishaq saying he did not consult any office-bearer before nominating Begum Neelum Jabbar as a party candidate for district nazim.
He claimed that Begum Neelum was nominated on the direction of Mr Kharal with the connivance of Chaudhry Ashfaq.
He maintained that a day before she filed nomination papers, she was supporting ruling party candidate Abdul Sattar.
He said office-bearers and workers have vowed not to pardon Chaudhry Ashfaq for deserting the PPP.
He announced that he and every office-bearer would oppose Begum Neelum and ruling party tehsil nazim candidate Mian Javed Iqbal, the brother of Chaudhry Ashfaq.
City PPP general secretary Rana Khalid Mahmood and finance secretary Taj Muhammad Taji were also present on the occasion.
It may be remembered that Mr Kharal had addressed a press conference on Tuesday and warned Mr Akhtar that if he did not support Begum Neelum he would be expelled from the party.
