LG system to be improved, says Pervaiz

RAHIM YAR KHAN, Sept 29: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said that the local government system will be further improved to solve problems of the people expeditiously.

He was addressing a large gathering of nazims and councillors at Sadiq Club here on Thursday. MNAs, MPAs and PML candidates, including district nazim nominee Sardar Rafique Haider Leghari, were also present.

He urged the nazims and councillors to elect PML candidates for the slots of four tehsil nazims and a district nazim.

The chief minister announced Dr Taloot Saleem Bajwa, Mian Ijaz Aamer, Sayed Murtaza Shah and Makhdoom Mobeen Ahmed for tehsil nazims of Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur and Liaquatpur respectively.

He said during the past four years, Rs3 billion had been spent on the development of Rahim Yar Khan district and Rs1.5 billion had been allocated this year.

The chief minister said the actual developmental funds for southern Punjab were 35 per cent, but 11 per cent more funds would be provided this year.

He announced Rs1 million grant for the district bar association.
