QUETTA: Commander of Southern Command Lt Gen Mohammad Waseem Ashraf has said that the Levies Force personnel have played an important role in restoring peace and order in remote areas of Balochistan without caring for their lives.
He said the Army was helping the Levies Force in its training and making it a combat force.
“Pakistan Army has trained 3,302 Levies personnel so far to enhance their capabilities to fight against terrorists. Currently 1,030 personnel are being trained and 180 of them are undergoing commando training,” LT Gen Ashraf said during a visit to Levies Force headquarters in Quetta.
The commander visited the Levies Martyrs’ Memorial and laid a wreath there. He inspected the IT room, G-fencing facility and arms and ammunition stalls and inspected the newly constructed conference hall.
Addressing the Levies personnel on the occasion, Lt Gen Ashraf said that the Levies Force had rendered invaluable services for maintaining peace and order in Balochistan.
“The Levies Force has an important role to play in the province,” he said, adding that the process of capacity building of the Levies Force by the Army would continue in full swing.
Earlier, he was received by Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langove and Director General of Levies Force Mujeeb-ur-Rehman on his arrival at the Levies Force headquarters.
