Resource centre set up at KMC

PESHAWAR, Sept 28: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan has said that the girls’ campus of the Khyber Medical College will emerge as a seat of learning in the future.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the self-learning resource centre (SLRC) at the girls’ campus of the KMC at Hayatabad here on Wednesday, he said the provincial government had established the KMC girls’ campus to provide facilities to female students who were hesitant to continue their studies in institutions with coeducation setup.

The institution has gained rapid progress in a short span, he said and added: “Students’ keen interest and confidence of their parents over the institution was its source of success.”

The minister stressed the need for collective efforts to strengthen the institution to overcome human resource shortage in the health sector.

Mr Khan announced a donation of 1,000 books for the campus.

KMC Principal Dr Omer Ali Khan and project director Dr Ziaul Islam also addressed the ceremony.

MNA Mualana Rahmatullah Khalil, Health acting Secretary Dr Jalilur Rahman, faculty members and students attended the function.

The self-learning resource centre would provide online facilities of latest medical research to students.
