Man killed in oil tanker fire

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A man was killed and another injured when an oil tanker overturned and caught fire near Guddu Interchange on Sukkur-Multan Motorway (M-5), some 67 kms from here, on Wednesday.

According to Rescue 1122, a Pakistan State Oil tanker filled with 48,000 litres of diesel was on its way from Karachi to Gujrat when one of its tyres burst near Mureed Shakh.

As a result it overturned, diesel started leaking and it caught fire.

A team of Rescue 1122 and tehsil administration reached the spot and motorway police cordoned off the area. Rescuers doused the flames.

Rescue 1122 have shifted injured Muhammad Asghar (55) and body of Ahmed Ali (22), residents of Gujrat, to the Sadiqabad THQ Hospital.

According to the assistant commissioner, the administration has arranged a crane to remove the heavy wreckage from the motorway to restore traffic.
