HYDERABAD, Sept 27: Three activists of proscribed militant organizations were released on Tuesday evening from the central jail under directives of the provincial home department.
They included Hafiz Rafi Mustafa, Maulana Qutubuddin and Maulana Farooq Azad.
They were arrested in July from different places in the city.
The activists had sent telegrams to the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, separately which were converted into constitutional petitions.
They were arrested by police for alleged violation of good behaviour bond, deposited by the activists before the DPO after their names were included in the fourth schedule under section 11-E of the Anti Terrorism Act.
No specific grounds were cited as to the violation of the bond.
The activists claimed police record regarding issuing and serving of show-cause notices under section 11-EE of the Anti Terrorism Act upon them had been tempered with.
Hafiz Rafi Mustafa filed his representation before the Sindh home department against inclusion of his name in the four schedule of Anti Terrorism Act but it was not decided.
He claimed he was served with the show-cause notice on July 21 at the city police station after he was arrested on July 19 though the notice had a provision of reply to charges within seven days of its receipts.
He said the period had already expired when he was served with notice.
A division bench of the Sindh High Court comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Mohammad Moosa K. Leghari is seized of constitutional petitions of the activists.
