Private sector universities form association

KARACHI: Looking to support steps taken for the promotion of higher education activities by private sector universities and strengthening academic activities in a better way with the Higher Education Commission, a meeting of some 75 heads of private universities of Sindh and Balochistan, at the Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), led to the formation of the All Pakistan Private Sector Universities Association, Sindh and Balochistan Chapter here on Thursday

The chapter will be headed by president Iqra University Dr Wasim Qazi, who has been elected its chairperson while MAJU’s president, Prof Dr Zubair Shaikh will be its co-chairperson.

The meeting, which was chaired by Dr Wasim Qazi, was attended by around 75 university heads physically and online. During the meeting it was emphasized that HEC should give due recognition to private sector universities to support quality education and to initiate academic programmes as per the mandate given to them in the University Act.
