Poland keen to fortify trade ties
KARACHI, Sept 27: Poland’s Ambassador to Pakistan Bodgan Marczewki has said that the would-be new Polish government will take all necessary steps to expand its economic and commerce ties with Pakistan in months to come.
The Polish envoy said that the parliamentary elections for forming new government were held on September 25 and a new government would be installed very soon.
Talking to the members of the Site Association of Industry (SAI) here on Monday, Mr Bodgan stressed the need for strengthening the bilateral trade ties and said that Pakistan had always been a very important partner to Poland in South East Asia and his country was deeply interested in further developing and enhancing relations with Pakistan in all fields.
He identified the promising fields of co-operation such as oil, gas and coal extraction and its utilization for energy production, deliveries of diesel generators, earth moving machinery, agriculture machinery including tractor, machine devices and services for mining, engineering and machine tools industry, manufacturing of heavy vehicles like bulldozers, marine and diesel engines etc.
According to a press release of the SAI issued here on Tuesday, the Polish envoy also underlined the need of exploring possibilities of joint ventures in food processing, beverages, domestic appliances, engineering and allied industry, plastic industry as well as textile manufacturing, textile supply technologies, consumer electronics, building materials, granite, marble, clothing and furniture industry.
He urged the Pakistan industrialists to participate in trade exhibitions held in Poland every year, which would give them opportunities to introduce their goods in the Polish market as well as it would help in establishing and strengthening business contacts with the private sector.
He said that he was impressed with the structural economic reforms implemented by the government, its macroeconomic policies and financial discipline which had transformed Pakistan into a stable and sustainable growing economy.
