Two men shot dead by ‘robbers’ in separate incidents

KARACHI: Two men were shot dead by alleged robbers for putting up resistance in separate incidents in the city, officials said on Thursday.

A 45-year-old man was gunned down off the National Highway early on Thursday morning.

Shah Latif Town SHO Ubaidullah Khan said that two armed men entered a home in Abdullah Goth and snatched five mobile phones and gold jewellery from house occupants at gunpoint.

As house owner Mohammed Ayaz tried to put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him and fled along with the looted valuables.

He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The officer added that the victim was involved in cattle pen business and had shifted to the area around three months ago.

In the other incident, a 32-year-old man was shot dead in Korangi late on Wednesday night, said police and hospital officials.

They added that unidentified suspects entered a home in Zia Colony and shot Mohammed Arshad for putting up resistance.

The wounded man was taken to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, said Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the hospital.

The victim suffered bullet wounds in his chest.

Young woman murdered

A young woman was found dead with slit throat in a Manghopir locality on Thursday evening, said police and rescue service officials.

They added that the woman was found dead in bushes near Mai Gadhi Mazar in Manghopir. The corpse was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil medico-legal formalities.
