LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Friday inaugurated the Renal Transplantation Centre and new labour room at Jinnah Hospital.

Addressing a ceremony, she lauded the efforts of the Jinnah Hospital’s administration for raising new health facilities for the patients requiring kidney-related treatment.

“I am extremely grateful to Friends of Jinnah Hospital for the opening of renal transplantation center despite facing lot of difficulties,” she said, adding that the Punjab government was under a debt of around Rs 100 billion when it had come to power.

“We had promised to develop nine mega hospitals and work is under way currently at four hospitals,” the health minister said.

Referring to the construction of Nishtar Hospital-2 in South Punjab, she said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Inasf government would raise the health facility to cater needs of a large number of patients in their region. Similarly, she said, the PC-I of five mother and child hospitals in the province had also been approved.

It is for the first time that hiring of 32,000 healthcare professionals had been made on merit, the health minister said.
