Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has said the Sindh government will have no option but to opt for 'smart' lockdowns if Covid-19 cases continue to surge, and will consider closing schools after monitoring the situation for a week.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the minister denied media reports that the provincial government had decided to close schools amid fear of increasing coronavirus cases.

However, he said some members of the cabinet had shown concern over the rise in infections and it was decided that strict monitoring will be carried out for a week to decide the future line of action.
