PESHAWAR: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar, has signed an MoU with Hassan Foundation under which the foundation would construct a hostel within a year for the students.

According to a statement issued here, all financial resources for construction of the hostel building and its infrastructure would be provided by the Hassan Foundation.

The MoU signing ceremony was organised at the SBBWU, which was also attended by special assistant to CM for higher education Kamran Khan Bangash and adviser to CM for food Khaliqur Rehman.

The document was signed by VC Prof Razia Sultana and Dr Mukhtar Khan, chairman Hassan Foundation, along with Dr Shahida Khan.

Dr Sultana said it was the first time that a private organisation had offered its services for the university.

She said at present three hostel buildings accommodated students belonging Chitral, Dir and other areas. She said the university had to acquire space from the Government Girls Degree College, Chagharmatti, to accommodate more students.

Mr Bangash said that women’s education was a challenge, but the SBBWU VC had proved that nothing was impossible if determination to accomplish the task was strong. The government institutions, he said, were always short of funds and it was incumbent on private organisations like Hassan Foundation to help the government organisations by initiating partnerships in different fields.
