Khasadar Force

AFTER the merger of Fata (Federally Administrated Tribal Areas) with Khyber Pakhtukhwa, the local force known as ‘Khasadar force’ was made part of the KP police and its personnel brought under the command of district police officers.

Later, the khasadar force was integrated into the KP police through an ordinance. The force’s perks and privileges were increased and brought on a par with KP police and its officials were promoted to the rank of ASIs, SIs, inspectors and even DSPs.

Officials from the aforementioned forces have been posted as SHOs and additional SHOs in their areas although they have no departmental training and have no policing experience. Many of these promoted officials are incapable of conducting a proper investigation or even write an FIR report.

The provincial government needs to revisit the issue and ensure proper policing in the former FATA areas.
