CM orders work on projects under Peshawar Revival Plan

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the authorities concerned to immediately initiate civil work on all the projects approved under Peshawar Revival Plan, including uplift and beautification of roads.

He agreed, in principle, to a proposal to shift the electricity transmission network underground and directed that the matter should be taken up with the Pesco authorities.

He made it clear that Peshawar was a big city and capital of the province which needed to be improved. He was presiding over a meeting called to discuss progress on the Peshawar Revival Plan at the CM House, Peshawar, according to a statement issued here.

Special assistant to CM on information Kamran Bangash, administrative secretaries of concerned departments, commissioner and DC Peshawar, and DG PDA also attended the meeting.

Beautification and uplift of various roads planned

The participants were informed that under the Peshawar Revival Plan work orders had been issued for the uplift and beautification of various roads, including the stretch from Bacha Khan Chowk to Charsadda Bus Terminal, Peshawar, Dalazak Road from Bacha Khan Chowk to Ring Road, Peshawar, Bhani Mari Road from Chongi Chowk to Ramdas and Circular Road from Nishtarabad to Ramdas Chowk.

Civil work on these projects would be initiated by next month. Similarly, Rs110 million has been released for Zone-F under the traffic management plan of Peshawar whereas tender was in process for the traffic management plan in Zone-D.

The meeting also discussed the obstacles to implementation of the Peshawar Revival Plan and proposed package-wise shifting of power transmission network underground through a long-term plan.

The chief minister, in principle, agreed to the proposal and directed the quarter concerned to discuss this issue with Pesco. About shifting of general bus stand out of city, it was stated that work on new bus stand would be initiated by end of next month.

Land acquisition for construction of the northern section of Ring Road (Warsak-Nasir Bagh road) was in progress. The meeting was told that work on beautification of BRT would be launched by November this year.
