The government has decided that all requirements in the teaching cadre against the posts reserved for initial recruitment of assistant professors and above shall be made on a regular basis through the PPSC.
It has, however, decided that these appointments against all posts of assistant professors will be institution specific according to the provisions of the Punjab Medical and Health Institutions Act 2003. These appointments will be non-transferable as well as no deputation will be allowed to the appointee from one institution to the other under any circumstances.
These regular posts will be non-pensionable, however, the appointees will be granted 30 per cent of the minimum of pay scale as social security benefits in lieu of pension.
The persons already working as regular government employees will have a choice either to opt for pensionable service or 30 per cent social security benefits in lieu of pension. Such employees will become regular employees of the institution concerned, after giving the choice.
Options/order of preference for selection in various institutions will be obtained from the candidates before their selection, and these selections against specific posts will be made in accordance with merit and the option exercised by the candidates.
The health department has requested the PPSC authorities that the process of recruitment of assistant professors may be completed within three months.
It is learnt that the health department will also forward a requisition of associate professors on a regular basis to the PPSC soon. — Staff Reporter
