The capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is apparently seeing a resurgence of Covid-19 after the confirmation of 16 new cases over the past 24 hours, an official said.

On the whole, 23 people tested positive across AJK from among 347 people whose samples were tested during the last 24 hours, according to Dr Mumtaz Ahmed, AJK’s leading virologist at the Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) Muzaffarabad.

He said 70 per cent of the patients had tested positive in Muzaffarabad district, where the viral infection had been at a low ebb for quite some time.
