PESHAWAR, Jan 19: The National Accountability Bureau on Friday arrested Haji Mohammad Taj for his alleged involvement in the Ghazi Barotha hydro-power project scam.

Arrest warrants for Haji Taj were issued in August for allegedly causing a loss of Rs7.27 million to the exchequer and he had been escaping the arrest since.

Haji Taj was member of the Land Evaluation Committee. He allegedly exploited his position to sell his own land measuring 233 kanals for Rs11.4 million against its actual value, i.e. Rs4.1 million only.

He was produced in the accountability court which remanded him for 14 days in the NAB custody.
