The programme was aimed at promoting creative sensitivity among talented child artists of Pakistan-Japan Friendship Fest. 39 students from over 14 schools of Peshawar took part in the competitions.
Theme of the art competition was “Remembering Peace: 60 years after Hiroshima and Nagasaki” whereas theme for the speech contest was “The Importance of Peace: Lessons from Hiroshima and Nagasaki”.
Students between 12 to 14 years participated in the art competition while one student per school took part in the speech contest.
The purpose of organising this event was to apprise children of friendly relationship existing between Japan and Pakistan for the past five decades. It was also an attempt to familiarise them with the people and the culture of Japan.
Children from different schools of Peshawar were invited to show their artistic oratory skills. The programme, organised every year, has been becoming very popular among the school children, mainly because of its interesting subject and opportunity for the children to freely express themselves.
The Chief Guest, Honorary Consul General for Japan at Peshawar Nawabzada Fazal Karim Afridi and First Secretary Press Information and Culture, Embassy of Japan, Yukio Tsutsumi gave away prizes to the winners and certificates to the remaining participants.
