KARACHI, Sept 20: Convenor of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s on Tuesday accused the Jamat-i-Islami of conspiring to commit ethnic-linguistic riots in Sindh as it allegedly did in collusion with the Pakistan People’s Party in 1972-73. He alleged that the Jamat-i-Islami’s linkage with Al Qaeda, having independent international terrorist networking, was well proven, which, he said, was indicative from the arrest of various Al Qaeda activists from the residence of JI leaders.

Dr Imran Farooq said that the JI, which suffered humiliating defeat in the local body elections, also had connections with Taliban.

He alleged that the JI, with above connections, was now an established global terrorist organization which was presently assembling “criminals, murderers and law-breakers under its wings to carry out well designed and devilish conspiracy of committing bloodshed through ethno-linguistic riots in the province.”

He warned the people of Sindh and the MQM cadre to be watchful against such a conspiracy to frustrate JI’s alleged nefarious designs for allegedly committing terrorism and creating law and order situation. He said that this could be achieved through unity.

He said that MQM’s intelligence wing had the information that the JI was allegedly amassing lethal weapons and importing additional terrorists to fulfil its heinous campaign of carnage.

Dr Imran Farooq appealed to the president, prime minister, and the governor and the chief minister of Sindh to take immediate notice of the SOS for maintaining law and order, save the lives and properties of innocent people of Sindh.
