LAKKI MARWAT: The basic health unit (BHU) located in Wanda Mir Alam village was found closed during an inspection visit by additional assistant commissioner Sultan Haider here on Wednesday.

The visit was arranged on the instructions of the deputy commissioner who had received complaints about the employees of health facilities in far-flung areas skipping their duties.

The health unit has been established along Darra Tang-Chashma road to provide the people of around a dozen villages and hamlets with healthcare facilities.

The additional AC was taken aback to see that the hospital was locked and all staffers posted there were absent from duty. He said that a report would be shared with the deputy commissioner who would send it to the health authorities for action.

Mr Haider also inspected the ongoing solar powered water supply schemes in Wanda Dalwati and Wanda Nizami villages. The officials of Public Health Engineering Department also accompanied him. On this occasion, the villagers asked the authorities to increase power capacity for the water supply scheme in Wanda Nizami.

The additional assistant commissioner directed the PHED authorities to complete the remaining work of laying distribution lines within a month.
