Despite lockdown restrictions being eased across the country, bus ride-sharing service Airlift has decided to keep its operations suspended for now, saying "Covid-19 continues to be a threat".
In an email to customers, Airlift noted that being in enclosed spaces exposes individuals to a high risk of contracting the coronavirus. It said despite a decline in new cases in Pakistan, "the risk of infection still remains high".
"In our view, travelling in buses is not safe for passengers in the current environment," it added, noting that many countries are seeing second waves of the virus.
Airlift said its transit services will remain suspended "at least for August and September" and the decision will be reviewed On October 1.
