The Sindh government has allowed businesses in the province to reopen from today (August 10) subject to the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for curbing the spread of the virus.

A notification by the provincial Home Department said that the decision had been taken "in view of the decline in Covid-19 cases" even though the disease was "still prevalent and likely to increase if adequate precautions are not taken".

It added that the government had allowed the opening of the following activities with effect from August 10, unless otherwise specified.

  • Educational, training institutes — September 15
  • Marriage halls, business centres, expo halls — September 15
  • Non-contact sports, sports clubs, gyms, sports facilities
  • Sporting tournament, indoor and outdoor (without spectators)
  • Hotels, restaurants, cafes including takeaway and home delivery as well as home catering services
  • Parks and grounds
  • Beauty parlours and spas
  • Cinemas and theatres
  • Permitted/ licensed gatherings/shrines
  • Tourism/ tourist hotels
  • Public transport with SOPs
  • Social clubs with SOPs as applicable to respective permissible activities
