KHAIRPUR, Sept 18: The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, in collaboration with the Indus Resource Centre, held a training workshop for capacity building of political workers here on Sunday.

Around 30 workers of the PML-F, PPP and the JUI-F attended the workshop.

The programme aimed at strengthening the capacity of political parties to become more responsive and address issues and concerns of people on the regular basis.

Richard Pinnock, Jami Chandio and Niaz Nadeem served as the resource person.

The topics discussed included message development, negotiation skills, organizing public forums, media relations and other skills needed for effective functioning of party branches.

The participants agreed that it was imperative for parties to have effective media strategy, strong party message and skills and capacity to organize public forums at the local level.

Based on the skills acquired during the training programme, the participants decided to arrange a multi-party public forum on October 20 on law and order situation in the district.—BoC
