SARGODHA, Sept 17: Police on Saturday claimed to have solved a triple murder case in which a young girl along with her minor brother and sister was killed on Friday night, and arrested the alleged murderer.
Investigation SP Abdul Hamid Khan told journalists that one Amjad Ali, a rickshaw driver and brother-in-law of Naseer Ahmad, visited his (Naseer’s) house when Naseer had gone to a local hospital, where his wife was admitted. The SP said Amjad attempted to outrage the modesty of Abida, niece of Naseer, and upon facing resistance he strangulated the girl to death. Meanwhile, Naseer’s minor children Awaise and Komal also woke up and witnessed the incident. Amjad, apprehending his arrest, also strangulated the two minor children, the SP said.
The accused, confessing to his crime, told the journalists that he visited the house of Naseer with an intention to rape the girl, but when she offered resistance and threatened to inform Naseer and his (Amjad’s) wife about the incident, he strangulated her to conceal his crime. The accused also confessed to have killed the two minor children to escape arrest.
After committing the crime, the accused said he visited Naseer and his wife at the hospital and also remained with them after they came to know about the killings.
The police, SP said, suspected Amjad and included him in the investigation who confessed to the horrible crime in the presence of area residents, Dr Arshad Shahid and Bhai Abdul Rehman.
DESECRATION: SP Hamid Khan and City ASP Rana Mansoor while commenting on alleged Farooka desecration incident, in which a police post was set to fire a few days ago, told Dawn the complainant woman, Kausar, had admitted that no wilful desecration of the holy book was committed by any police officer.
The investigation team headed by Mr Abdul Hamid finally concluded that no such incident took place. However, the police officers avoided to disclose why the police post was set ablaze.
