MMA divided in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA, Sept 17: MMA aspirant for district nazim office Maulana Muhammad Ayub Tufani, who had withdrawn his nomination paper just two days ago, on Saturday announced his support for the ruling party ‘s Fayyaz Ahmad Chattha.

He said he would support him for the development of the city district.

On the other hand, the MMA district organization announced that it would support an independent candidate, Mian Tariq Mahmood, the brother of disqualified MPA Mian Mazhar Javed, for Qila Deedar Singh town nazim slot.

This was announced by MMA District President Allama Bilal Qudrat at a news conference.

The former MPA and his brother who is an aspirant for town nazim thanked the MMA leadership and vowed to extend their cooperation.

The ruling PML and the ARD had nominated former city tehsil council nazim Babu Javed Ahmad and former district naib nazim Haji Gauhar Zaman for town nazim slot.

In a development, the Punjab government has reportedly fired Zafar Gulzar, cousin of Punjab Transport Minister Chaudhry Shamshad Ahmad Khan, from the Kamoki market committee administratorship as he was contesting town nazim election against the minister’s brother, Rana Sajjad Ahmad. — Correspondent
