CHAGAI: Police have arrested 72 people, including teenagers, who were going to Iran in a goods truck for their onward journey to Turkey and European countries illegally in search of a better life.
Official sources said that after receiving the instructions from Chagai District Police Officer Zuhaib Muhsin, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Arshad Jadoon and Dalbandin Station House Officer Khalid Badeni, along with a heavy contingent of police, intercepted a goods truck carrying illegal migrants and took them into custody along with the driver and cleaner of the truck.
SHO Badeni told Dawn that the truck was covered with tarpaulin to hide the presence of illegal migrants.
He said the truck was moving towards the Mashakil town near the Pak-Iran border when it was intercepted.
“The detained people have been handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency for interrogation and prosecution,” he added.
