HYDERABAD: Nomination papers scrutinized
HYDERABAD, Sept 16: The scrutiny of nomination papers for seats of taluka and district nazims and reserved seats candidates ended here on Friday. Nomination papers of MQM’s candidate for district nazim Kanwar Naveed Jameel and his covering candidate Dr Arif Khilji have been accepted.
Applications of a total number of 167 candidates of taluka and district nazims and reserved seats in the district were accepted. About twelve forms were rejected for various reasons by returning officers. MPA Kanwar Naveed Jameel appeared before the RO for scrutiny of papers which were cleared.
No objection was filed against him by any eligible voter.
The papers of PPP-backed Mir Fateh Talpur and Sagheer Qureshi were also accepted.
There are 18 seats of women and three each of minority and labour in the district council.
In taluka city, papers of MQM-backed Salahuddin, a former MPA, Javed Jabbar and Rashid Khilji and PPP-baked Fayyaz Ali Shah for taluka nazim city were accepted.
In Latifabad taluka no objection was filed.
Three candidates, MQM’s Sabir Qaimkhani, Khalid Hassan and Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro were accepted for the taluka nazim slot.
For Hyderabad (rural) taluka, papers of Mohammad Thebo of the government-backed Rajuni Ittehad, Sher Mohammad Talpur, PPP backed Khawind Bux Jahejo, Ghulam Mustafa Unnar, Mir Shah Mohammad Talpur, Israr Ahmed and Khalid Pahore were accepted.
In Qasimabad taluka, candidates of PPP-backed Maula Bux Chandio and Abdul Rafi Abbasi, Mohammad Bux and Qasimabad Awami Ittehad’s Noor Mohammad Shoro, former taluka nazim Qasimabad were accepted for taluka nazim seat.
