Kharlachi border crossing reopens

KURRAM: The Kharlachi border crossing in Kurram tribal district was on Saturday reopened to trade with Afghanistan after remaining closed for four months.

The border crossing was closed for bilateral trade after the outbreak of Covid-19.

Army’s Brig Najaf Abbas told mediapersons that the departments concerned were working out a comprehensive plan to provide all essential facilities, including healthcare, at the border crossing.

He said formal trade had begun with Afghanistan through Kharlachi crossing, which was the nearest point with Kabul. He said a plan was under consideration to establish warehouses and a terminal in the area.

The local traders and daily wagers welcomed the reopening of the border crossing.
