SARGODHA, Sept 14: Qabza groups have roots deep in all departments. Though the number of people suffering at their hands is large, few have the patience and strength to challenge them. One such sufferer is Mrs Raffia Riffat Perveen, an oversees Pakistani, who is determined in her case to expose the influential people behind the qabza group.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mrs Perveen said that she was living with her husband and children in Saudi Arabia. She said that she got prepared her NIC as an overseas Pakistani national on Aug 10, 2004. While her old NIC with photograph was issued to her on Nov 26, 1980.
She said that she had purchased residential plot No 289 in Gulraiz Phase III vide registered sale deed No 11245 on Dec 15, 1994 from the attorney of Brig Ghulam Husain.
During the intervening period from 1994 to 2005, she had been visiting the country every year and found her plot in question intact. To her surprise, she found that one Ehsan was raising a structure on her plot when she visited there this year on Aug 21.
Upon inquiry, Ehsan informed her that he had purchased this plot from Muhammad Akram who had purchased it from Saira Kausar, the wife of an army officer.
Mrs Perveen gave out that, after an inquiry, she found that a fake NIC was got prepared from Nadra on March 14, 2004, showing another woman residing at the Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi. In this way, she was deprived of her plot worth Rs10 million.
She showed reporters the NIC of her own and a copy of the fake card having different photographs and details of residence. She said that Kausar who had been used for forgery was shown to be the permanent resident of Karachi. She said that she had never gone to Karachi and her permanent residential address at the NIC was 331-G, Civil Lines, Sargodha.
Mrs Perveen further said that she was the daughter of a former SSP and her native district was Mianwali, and she never resided at the address of Kausar who impersonated her.
She said that she had lodged an FIR with the Airport police station in Rawalpindi district on Aug 27 last against all members of the Qabza group. However, the police after arresting all the nominated accused released them without any investigation.
Now, she said, the police were piling pressure on her to accept the actual market price of the plot and withdraw her case for some high-ups were involved in it.
Mrs Perveen said she had refused the police offer as she was all prepared to expose the influential people and the corrupt officials of Nadra.
Although she was being threatened with dire consequences, she said that she would never succumb to pressure of the Qabza group.
She said the Nadra director-general claimed foolproof arrangements, but would he like to explain how Saira Kausar succeeded in getting a computerized card in the name of Raffia Perveen, the wife of Asmatullah?
She said the government was stressing overseas Pakistanis for investment in their own country but did not bother to protect their rights. She disclosed that she was not the sole victim of the qabza group, but scores of overseas Pakistanis who invested in Rawalpindi and Islamabad had been deprived of their life-long savings.
She urged the president, the prime minister and the federal manpower and overseas Pakistanis minister to take stock of the situation.
