LAHORE, Jan 18: A writ petition challenging the appointment of former chief justice Irshad Hasan Khan as the chief election commissioner was dismissed in limine by a single bench of the Lahore High Court.
Dismissing the petition Justice Saqib Nisar observed that the appointment of Justice Khan was in accordance with the constitutional requirements. He had been elevated as chief justice of Pakistan and fulfilled all the requirements for appointment as a judge of the Supreme Court.
The petition had been filed by Advocate Mian Hanif Tahir.
