Oxfam-MDF kits distribution drive

ISLAMABAD: Humanitarian organisation Oxfam has initiated a drive for the distribution of 1,400 hygiene kits in Sindh to actively respond to Covid-19 pandemic.

In partnership with Management and Development Foundation (MDF), the kits will be distributed among families belonging to low-income farming communities in Hyderabad, Tando Mohammad Khan and Badin districts, according to an Oxfam statement issued here on Thursday.

Women-led families working in fields amid Covid-19 outbreak are among the beneficiaries of the drive as they are in much need of safety kits and personal protective equipment (PPE) that could protect them from the contagion during their routine work, says the statement.

Oxfam in Pakistan is working to offer comprehensive and safe support to poor, vulnerable and marginalised people to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and to protect them from the impact of emergency measures taken to control the pandemic and respond to it.

At the launch of the drive, Oxfam country director Uzma Aftab said: “It is incredibly important that we protect our food front liners and farming community as they are working in these unprecedented circumstances without adequate protection against Covid-19”.
