QUETTA, Sept 12: A 10-year-old boy was injured when a detonator of powerful bomb exploded in the Essa Nagri area of the provincial capital on Monday. However, the bomb, planted in a rainwater drain, did not explode a senior police officer said.

He added that the bomb was defused by the bomb disposal squad. The boy had touched the detonator which went off with a bang, injuring him. He was admitted to Civil Hospital for treatment.

The area police rushed to the site and found a bomb weighing one and a half kilogram in the rainwater drain. “The bomb could not explode due to technical fault,” police sources said. A case has been registered against unidentified saboteurs.
